REVIEW & RELEASE DAY: SIRENS AND SEA CAPTAINS by COURTNEY DENELSBECK!

Hey everyone! I've got another review for a pirate-y novella that was just the sweetest, Sirens and Sea Captains by Courtney Denelsbeck! She's quickly becoming one of my insta-buy authors, so when I heard she was coming out with a regency fantasy with pirates...sign. me. up.

Anyway.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Siren attacks. A forced engagement. And the once-dignified lady made to live with pirates.

Lenora's heart rips to pieces as she finds herself the latest victim of Thomas McKraven's charms. The summertime ball, where she had hoped to announce their betrothal, is instead the pinnacle of her humiliation. But just when she thinks things can't get any worse, her father makes a shocking announcement—Lenora is to be married, not to Thomas or any other eligible suitor, but to a pirate.

As Lenora tries to come to terms with her new fate, she is thrust into a world of danger and adventure on the high seas. Along with her loyal pet axolotl, she must survive amongst the rough crew, siren attacks, and the distant and unfriendly Captain Devonshire—her intended husband. But as she journeys further into the unknown, Lenora can't shake the feeling that there is something more waiting for her out in the vast ocean.

For fans of adventurous fantasy with clean romance, comes Sirens and Sea Captains, the first book in Realms of Lurin, a multi-author collection of standalone magical regency-inspired fantasy novellas that take place in the same world. With twists and turns, pirates, danger, and magical creatures, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoy stories by authors such as Mary Mecham, Marissa Meyer, and Stephanie Garber, then this is a must-read for you.

MY REVIEW

Sirens and Sea Captains has a little bit of everything: swoony, no-spice romance, axolotls, and characters you'll love to love--and maybe a couple you'll love to hate. This book made me a believer in the arranged marriage trope, with just enough twists and turns to keep flipping pages. Captain Devonshire is just the right amount of grumpy and mysterious, the villains have just enough good excuses to make you think long and hard about their motives, and the main character Lenora is relatable and easy to empathize with. I absolutely loved this little novella!
