WHY WRITE WHERE THE WALTZ WANES?

 So I'm writing a matchmaker series, and this book isn't even really about matchmaking. What gives?

Where the Waltz Wanes is where the rubber meets the road. Where the hard decisions come and the crises unfold and everyone has to shift course or flounder. It's where friendships are tested under the weight of circumstance, and where one character in particular, Jules, gets caught up in trying to fix the problems as they roll in. But then her brother rolls in. 

I wrote Jules' brother into the early portion of Where the Last Verse Ends and then never brought him into the fold, having labeled him as a problematic character who is best left on the outskirts. But in real life, family dynamics like that rarely stay on the outskirts, try as we might to hide the struggles and strife. And so Paul is plopped right into the middle of wedding plans, friend dynamics being stretched and tested, and other trials our characters face in the series (spoiler alert). 

Paul is the prodigal son arriving home, seeking yet another second chance, and sometimes that's a hard pill to swallow. Added into the fold of overwhelm and burnout, it's a recipe for disaster, and Jules has to face the decision of whether or not to accept him and welcome him home or protect herself from yet another struggle if--or when--he falls again. It's a story for those still at home when the prodigal arrives back. It's for the one who's burned out but still carrying the burden of "fixing" others' struggles. It's for the one who needs reminded that they are carried not only by God, but by other friends as well.
